What is Pescatarian Diet?
Pescetarianism is the practice of following a diet that includes fish or other seafood, but not the flesh of other animals. A pescetarian diet typically shares many of its components with a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet and may include vegetables, fruit, nuts, grains, beans, eggs, dairy, and insect byproducts (such as honey, carmine, orshellac), but a vegetarian diet excludes meat. Starting a pescatarian diet helps you avoid high saturated fat cholesterol consumption that can come along with eating a lot of red meat. Pescatarians do not eat any land animals or birds, such as beef, pork, chicken or turkey; however, they do eat fish and other seafood, such as shrimp and clams. Vegetarian foods, such as fruits, vegetables, beans, grains and nuts, are also allowed on a pescatarian diet. Depending upon your preferences, you may or may not include dairy and egg products in your diet. I decided to add dairy on my diet

1. Discuss your new diet plans with anyone living in your household with whom you share meals. Explain that you will no longer eat any type of non-seafood proteins, including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb and venison, as well as any products made form these foods, such as broths and gravies. Decide how the household wants to handle your new diet plan.
2.Go through your cupboards and refrigerator and remove foods containing meat ingredients. Some foods are obviously meat but, read labels of all foods in your home, such as soups, canned items, snack foods and frozen meals, to see if any meat-based ingredients are included. Ingredients such as broth, gravy or a meat flavoring are commonly made from animal products. Gelatin, used to thicken many foods, and some rennet found in cheese are also animal-based ingredients. If you choose to avoid dairy, you'll also want to look for any form of milk, cream, cheese, yogurt, whey and casein. Instead of throwing the food containing meat away, give the non-perishable items to a food bank and any other items to a family member, friend or neighbor.
3.Prepare meals at home that are vegetarian or based around seafood. Try new recipes such as vegetarian soups, chili, stir fries, curries, burritos and salads. Use fish to make fish tacos, fish sandwiches, seafood stews, or simply season and grill or bake fish as an entree.
4.Include beans, nuts and seeds as good sources of vegetarian protein on days when you don't eat seafood. Some pescatarians include dairy products and eggs in their diet, while others choose not to.
5.Communicate clearly with servers or hosts when eating out of the home. Let them know that you do eat seafood, but no animal products. Many restaurants prepare fish using chicken or meat broth or may put animal products in seafood soups, stews and chowders. When in doubt, order a vegetarian meal or pass on a dish you are unsure about.
